SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team lost 5-0 to fourth-ranked Shippensburg in its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division game of the season Tuesday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
Slippery Rock (1-4, 0-1 PSAC-West) was outshot by Shippensburg (3-2, 1-0 PSAC-West) 25-1 and also had a 16-0 disadvantage in penalty corners.

Alexandra Kirsch suffered the loss for Slippery Rock after making six saves and giving up five goals in 61:02. Fellow freshman
Courtney Lee came in the game for Kirsch for the final minutes of the contest, she did not face a shot. Slippery Rock did make three defensive saves in the game as senior

Anna Swearingen all made goal-saving stops.
Shippensburg's Katie Pufnock and Taylor Jones each had two-goal games while Kristina Taylor scored the Raiders' final goal of the game. Bre White assisted on three of the scores. Goalie Carenna Neely had one save in the shutout victory.
Slippery Rock will continue its three-game homestand when it faces Millersville 4 p.m. Friday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
