Tuesday's game was all Slippery Rock from the start as the hosts opened up a 3-0 advantage early before a lightning strike forced a stoppage with 21:03 to play in the opening half. When play resumed, SRU struck almost immediately to push the lead out to 4-0.
Tiffin answered with a goal at the 19:26 mark, but Slippery Rock tallied the next two goals to push the lead out to 6-1 with 17:46 to play before the break. After another Tiffin score, The Rock closed the half with two more goals to lead 8-2 at halftime.
Slippery Rock kept the momentum by opening the second half with a 5-0 run to break the game open, 13-2, a deficit Tiffin could never recover from.
The Rock will close the 2011 season Thursday night when they host Edinboro in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match at 7 p.m. A win in that game would give SRU 11 wins and tie the all-time school record for wins in a season, set by the 1983 team that went 11-5-1.
