MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Hosting Millersville University scored 26 of the last 34 first-half points Sunday afternoon to take firm control of the action en route to a 81-49 win over Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's basketball “crossover” action.
The loss was the second suffered by The Rock in as many days and dropped the Green and White's season records to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in PSAC action.
SRU will look to end its skid Dec. 3 when it hosts conference rival East Stroudsburg University in a 1 p.m. game in Morrow Field House. The Green and White entertain Kutztown University in a 1 p.m. game the following day.

Danielle Smith scored a team-high 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds Sunday for SRU. Sophomore forward
Jasmine Cooper scored nine points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds before fouling out with 4:35 left to play, while junior guard
Paris Thomas (pictured) added seven points, six rebounds and four assists.
For Millersville, Sophia Waters scored a game-high 17 points and handed out four assists, Mashira Newman added 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, Aurielle Mosley chipped in 15 points and 12 rebounds and Gabrielle Styles scored 12 points.
Millersville (2-0 overall, 2-0 PSAC) took advantage of an 0-of-8 shooting effort by The Rock to take a quick 6-0 lead to open the game.
SRU was able to hang around until the midway mark of the opening 20 minutes as the Green and White trailed by only three points, 15-12, with 9:30 left before halftime.
Millersville then scored 12 unanswered points and 24 of the next 29 points to push its lead to 22 points, 39-17, with one minute remaining before the intermission.
The Marauders took a 41-20 advantage into halftime and opened the second half of action with an 8-0 run to push the margin to 29 points with 17:00 left in the game.
The Rock never trimmed the margin to less than 22 points the remainder of the game and trailed by as many as 34 points (77-43, 3:15 left to play).
SRU shot an ice-cold 22% (7-32) from the the field, including a 1-for-10 showing from 3-point range, and sank five of eight (63%) free throws in the first half of action. Millersville, meanwhile, hit 49% (17-35) of its shots from the floor with a 2-of-5 showing from 3-point range and a 5-of-9 (56%) showing from the foul line.
The Rock turned the ball over 13 times, compared to only six for Millersville, and held a 25-23 rebounding edge in the opening 20 minutes of action.
Final statistics showed The Rock with a 28% (18-64) efficiency from the field, a frigid 11% (2-18) reading from 3-point range and a lukewarm 56% (9-16) effort from the foul line.
SRU held a 46-43 rebounding advantage, but finished the game with 22 turnovers compared to 15 for Millersville.
The Marauders connected on 50% of their shots as they made 33 of 66 field goal tries, four of eight from 3-point range and 9 of 18 from the foul line.
