SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Freshman Lindsay Brown scored her second goal in as many games, but it wasn't enough to upset No. 2 Shippensburg Saturday. The Raiders scored three goals in the first half on their way to a 4-1 win over SRU.

The loss drops The Rock's record to 3-11 overall and 2-4 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division. Shippensburg improved to 12-2 overall and 6-0 in the PSAC-West.

Brown's goal, her second of the season, came off of an assist from junior Gabrielle Malishchak in the second half. Slippery Rock also received shots from senior Brittany Schultz and freshman Allison Shade. Courtney Lee suffered the loss at goalie for SRU after giving up four goals and making two saves.

Shippensburg started off fast, scoring three unanswered goals in the opening 23 minutes of play. Two of the scores came from Sam Langone. Lauren Taylor scored Shippensburg's other goal in the first half.

Brown closed the gap to 3-1 for SRU with a score at 41:13 in second half, but Shippensburg proceeded to get its lead back to three (4-1) when Bre White scored her first goal of the game at 53:31. The Rock successfully defended eight Raider corners after White's score, but was unable to get another shot before the end of the regulation.

For the game, SRU was outshot 10-3 and out-cornered 16-1.

With its four-game road trip finally over, Slippery Rock will finally return home for a 7 p.m. game against Mercyhurst Tuesday at Thompson-Mihalik Stadium.
