Rock drops 3-0 decision at Millersville

The Slippery Rock University field hockey team fell 3-0 to Millersville on Saturday.

MILLERSVILLE, PA. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team fell 3-0 to Millersville on Saturday. The Rock (0-3) held Millersville scoreless in the first half before MU scored three goals in the second half for the win.

Senior Samantha Badaczewski led SRU with one shot on goal. Freshman Kaitlin McGinnis also recorded one shot. Senior goalie Lisa Belcastro registered three saves in 70 minutes of play.

After the scoreless first half, Millersville scored goals at the 37:31, 42:23 and 53:10 marks in the second stanza.

For the game, The Rock was outshot 10-2 and was at a 13-3 disadvantage in penalty corners.

Melissa McCarthy led Millersville with one goal and one assist.

Slippery Rock will be back in action on Tuesday (Sept. 21) at Shippensburg. Play is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
