SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team loses a thriller to No. 3 East Stroudsburg Sunday afternoon 2-1. The Rock now holds a 2-8 record and a 1-3 record in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division.
In the first half, junior
Samantha Badaczewski could not connect on a break away shot, energizing The Rock. At 32:39 junior
Katie Krouse connected for her third goal of the season, being assisted by sophomore
Rebecca Coleman.
As time expired in the first half, the Warriors took a corner that led to three shots and eventually a penalty shot. Junior Caitlin Brownley connected for her 14th goal of the season, and knotting the game up 1-1 at the end of the first half.
The goal was the third time this season SRU has given up a goal with no time on the clock.
In a downpour, the two teams played a tight second half, until Amanda McGuire scored off of a Jessica Franz deflection for the game-winning goal. East Stroudsburg is now 10-2 overall and hold a 3-1 PSAC-East record.

Ariana White. The Rock was outshot 18-4 and junior
Lisa Belcastro recorded eight saves.
The Rock returns to action Friday night, against Shippensburg for the last game of a four game home stand. Game time is scheduled for 4 pm at Thompson Stadium.
