SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team falls 3-0 to No. 7 Mercyhurst Friday afternoon at Thompson Stadium. 

The Rock now holds a 2-7 record overall with a 1-3 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western division record. 

Mercyhurst, now 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the PSAC West, got on the board with Emily Warren scoring on the first shot of the game at the 2:16 mark to take an early 1-0 lead. 

At the 60 minute mark, Sara Wowkowych scored her fifth goal of the season taking a 2-0 lead. 

On a penalty corner, with no time remaining, Courtney Loper connected with the third goal of the game for the Lakers. Goalie Ashley Wiskup recorded her fourth shut out of the season. 

Junior Katie Krouse led The Rock with four shots and three on goal. Freshman Gabrielle Malishchak and sophomore Erin Moran both added a shot. Junior Lisa Belcastro recorded four saves. 

Mercyhurst led the game 10-6 in shots and 10-3 in corners. 

The Rock returns to action Sunday facing off against No. 3 East Stroudsburg. Start time at Thompson Stadium is 1 pm.
