SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's cross country team won the SRU Invite Saturday morning at Cooper's Lake Campground with a combined team score of 36 points.
Penn State's club team finished second with 70 points, followed by Wayne State in third with 83 points. Mercyhurst finished fourth, followed by Gannon, Westminster, Cuyahoga Community College, Bethany and West Liberty.
The Rock easily ran to victory in its only home meet of the season, marking the second straight convincing win for the team this season.
Jen Harpp led the way with a second-place finish, covering the 6,000-meter course in 22:31.
Crystal Burnick was the second Rock runner to cross the line, finishing sixth in 23:49.
Abby Michaelian finished ninth in 24:12, followed by
Caitlin Hancox in 11th (24:21) and Jennifer Pace in 12th (24:23) to round out The Rock's scorers.
Becky Younger finished 15th in 24:29, followed by
Sarah Thompson in 17th at 24:37.
The Rock competed for the first time as a complete squad two weeks ago, easily winning the Crimson Hawk Invite hosted by Indiana (Pa.).
Next up for SRU will be the Penn State National Invite, October 16, at the golf course in State College, Pa.
