SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team fell 5-0 against No. 1 Shippensburg on Friday at Thompson Stadium. The Rock now holds a 2-9 record overall and a 1-4 record in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division. 

Shippensburg (12-1 overall 5-0 PSAC-West) started the scoring quickly with Laura Wylde scoring within the first 10 minutes to take the lead 1-0. Wylde recorded three shots on goal through the game. At the 13:57 mark, Kristina Taylor scored her first goal of the game, to make the score 2-0. 

In the 21st minute, Taylor took a pass from Kim Tully to score her second goal of the game and a 3-0 lead for the Raiders. Three minutes later, Taylor connected off of a corner penalty from Amanda Strous to record a hat trick and a 4-0 lead for Shippensburg at half time. Taylor had five shots on goal with three goals in the game. 

Junior Katie Krouse was the only Rock player to record a shot in the first half, and ended the game with two shots. 

In the second half, Jaime Doughty took the deflection off Kim Tully for the 5-0 lead, and the final goal of the game. 

Junior Lisa Belcastro recorded 10 saves in the game. Freshman Ariana White recorded two shots and sophomore Erin Moran also recorded a shot. 

The Rock returns to action Monday traveling to Bloomsburg. The game starts at 4:00 pm.
