LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's cross country team finished 15th at the National Invite, hosted by Lock Haven University Friday afternoon. The meet was originally scheduled for this morning at Penn State, but heavy snow on the course forced the meet to be shifted to Lock Haven.
The Rock placed 15th out of 18 teams with a final team score of 429 points and was without the services of its top runner,
Jen Harpp, who could not compete in the race after the schedule was changed.
Slippery Rock's first runner to cross the line was
Abby Michaelian, finishing in 77th-place after covering the 6,000-meter course in a time of 23:05.
The Rock's second finisher was
Crystal Burnick, finishing 79th with a time of 23:10. Rebecca Younger placed 86th in 23:21, followed by
Jen Pace in 92nd at 23:26 and
Caitlin Hancox in 95th at 23:35 to round out the scorers.
Slippery Rock will rest next weekend and return to action Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Edinboro University.
