The Rock was outshot by a 24-17 margin but was buffeted by a strong effort by sophomore goalie Lisa Belcastro, who recorded 17 saves. She turned aside eight shots on goal in each fo the first two periods of play before denying Seton Hill on its only overtime shot on goal.

The Rock will go in search of a third straight win Saturday when it hosts Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Indiana U. of Pa. in a high-noon game at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

At stake Saturday, in addition to a conference win that would even the Green and White's PSAC record at 1-1, is its first 3-1 record since 1997.  and has not won more than two games in a season since 2003.

Notes:

Venet now leads the team in scoring with three goals. Badaczewski and Krouse each had a pair of goals and one assist  to their credit, while Hartman has one goal and three assists, Moran one goal and freshman Skyler Brosse one goal.

The two wins this season match SRU's combined total for the previous two seasons (2006 and 2007) and matches its win total for both the 2004 and 2005 seasons.

This year's 2-1 start is the best by a Rock field hockey team since the 2000 squad was also 2-1 after wins with a loss to Wittenberg and back-to-back wins over Indiana (Pa.) and Brockport State (N.Y.).
