SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Freshman Erin Moran scored The Rock's lone goal in their 5-1 loss Saturday afternoon against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent and fifth-ranked Kutztown at N. Kerr Thomson Stadium.
Moran's goal came five and a half minutes into the second half of the game.
Rock sophomore goalie Lisa Belcastro recorded nine saves in the game, while sophomore goalie Olivia Lampenfeld recorded one save.
Kutztown sophomore forward Abbey Sheeler scored the Golden Bears first of five goals only 31 seconds into the contest. Two of Kutztown's goals came from penalty shots by Jennifer Belfatti. Lindsay Butler and Kelley Healey also scored one goal each in the matchup.
The Green and White (2-6) return to action Sunday, when they will host No. 6 East Stroudsburg at noon.
That will be the second of three straight games The Rock will play against teams ranked in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II national top-10 poll.
SRU hosts fourth-ranked Shippensburg at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
