Rock earns team berth in Division II national meet

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Led by a runner-up finish by senior Jaime Wright, The Rock earned its first NCAA national championship team berth since 1995 with a second-place finish in Saturday's NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional meet at Cooper's Lake Campground south of Slippery Rock.

The Rock finished the meet with 97 points, second only to team champion Shippensburg's 62 points.

Shippensburg and The Rock entered Saturday's meet ranked 1-2 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Atlantic Regional poll.

Wright (pictured above) recorded a 22:07 time on the 6K course to take runner-up honors behind Shippensburg's Neely Spencer, who recorded a 21:09 time.

The Rock's second finisher was junior Jen Harpp, who placed ninth with a 22:37 time, while senior Laura Mucho finished in 11th place at 22:46.

Crystal Burnick placed 28th with a time of 23:26, followed by Katie Bork (47th at  23:56), Leslie Kramer (63rd at 24:37) and Caitlin Hancox (66th at 24:45).
