Wright earns All-America status, leads Rock to 11th place finish

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Senior Jaime Wright placed 20th in the individual competition Saturday afternoon to lead The Rock to an 11th-place finish in the NCAA Division II national championships at Cooper's Lake Campground.

Wright (pictured above) had a 22:17 time on the 6K course. Junior Jen Harpp was SRU's No 2 finisher as she placed 40th with a time of 22:49.

Wright earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America honors by virtue of her finish in Saturday's race.

Sophomore Crystal Burnick was The Rock's third finisher with a 86th-place, 23:35 effort, senior Leslie Kramer finished 118th with a 24:01 time, junior Laura Mucho was 125th at 24:08, senior Katie Bork placed 130th at 24:16 and freshman Caitlin Hancox was 165th at 25:06.

Wright made her second straight appearance in national championship competition. A year ago, she placed 84th.

Saturday's race marked the first appearance by a Rock women's team as a unit since 1995, when the Green and White finished seventh.

The Rock earned its team berth in Saturday's competition by placing second in the Atlantic Regional meet held Nov. 8 at Cooper's Lake.

Adams State (Colo.) won the team title Saturday with 79 points, followed by Grand Valley State (Mich.) with 102 points and Western State (Colo.) with 183.
