LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team had a strong showing at the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
 
Playing in a hidden dual format, the Bucknell Invitational entrants were comprised of The Rock, host Bucknell, Saint Francis, Franklin & Marshall and Indiana (Pa.).
 
In what was the program's second competition of the season – SRU began its year Sept. 5-6 at the CMU Invitational - Slippery Rock won 13 of 21 individual matches at the Bucknell Invitational. Originally scheduled to be a two-day event, the invite was limited to just Saturday as inclement weather forced Sunday's matches to be canceled.
 
Slippery Rock athletes combined to win 13 of their 21 individual matches Saturday with success in both singles and doubles competition.  
 
Leading the way for Slippery Rock was the team of Nicole Kempton and Nadia Rodewald, who went a perfect 3-0 as a doubles pairing. The Rock's singles top achievements was headlined by newcomer Léane Ben Ammar, who went 2-0 with wins over her counterparts from Franklin & Marshall and IUP.
 
Slippery Rock continues the individual portion of its 2026-27 season when it heads back to Carnegie Mellon University Oct. 3-4 for the second CMU Invite.
