SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team held steady at No. 7 in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association national poll and climbed two places to No. 3 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine national poll when the Division II national rankings were updated Monday.

The IWLCA poll is widely used as the official national ranking throughout the season. Slippery Rock opened the year at No. 8 in the preseason poll before slipping to No. 11 before even playing a game. The Rock jumped up to No. 7 after a 2-0 week to open the season and remain at No. 7 this week. SRU has slowly risen up the top 10 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll and climbed two more places this week to its highest ranking ever at No. 3.

The high rankings come after Slippery Rock has opened the 2026 season with three straight wins over reigning conference champions and NCAA Tournament qualifiers from last spring. The Rock opened the season with an 18-9 win at home against reigning Great Midwest Athletic Conference champion Ashland, went on the road and posted a 13-12 upset win at West Chester, which snapped the Golden Rams' streak of 60 consecutive regular season wins, and most recently put up a 10-6 home win over reigning Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion Grand Valley State.

Slippery Rock is the top ranked team from the Atlantic Region in the IWLCA national poll at No. 7 and is the only team from the region ranked in this week's top 10.

West Chester dropped three spots to No. 11, East Stroudsburg held steady at No. 12 and Wingate moved up one spot to No. 13 to give the Atlantic Region four teams in the top 15 this week. The region also has three more teams in the top 25 with No. 18 Seton Hill, No. 20 Kutztown and No. 24 Anderson (S.C.) closing out the seven teams from the region in this week's top 25.

Slippery Rock will hit the road Saturday and travel to Buffalo, New York to face D'Youville University for its only game this week.
