NATIONAL RANKINGS
Slippery Rock held steady at No. 7 in the AFCA Division II national poll and No. 8 in the D2football.com poll this week. Both national polls are available on page nine of the PDF notes linked above. The Rock were also ranked No. 1 in the NCAA NPI computer rankings this week. More info on NPI available
HERE.
Â
NO. 1 IN NCAA NPI RANKINGSÂ |Â NPI Rankings
The NCAA Power Index (NPI) debuted this year in Division II. The NPI will be used to determine the national tournament fields moving forward, replacing the ranking committees. The NPI assigns a point value to each game and rewards teams for their winning percentage and strength of schedule. Slippery Rock is currently ranked No. 1 among all programs in Division II this week and with that also ranked No. 1 in Super Region One.
Â
NATIONAL NPIÂ |Â NPI Rankings
Slippery Rock currently ranks No. 1 among all teams in the country with an NPI number of 68.145. Ferris State moved up to No. 2 this week with an NPI of 67.113. Harding is No. 3 at 66.960 and Northwood is No. 4 at 65.898 to round out the four teams with a rating above 65.0. Emporia State caps the top five at 64.622. The rest of the top 10 includes Colorado State Pueblo (63.807), Minnesota State (63.702), Kutztown (62.705), Davenport (61.497) and Kentucky State (61.422).
Â
SUPER REGION ONE RANKINGS
The current Super Region One top 10 rankings include Slippery Rock leading the way, followed by Kutztown, East Stroudsburg, Virginia State and Virginia Union rounding out the top five. West Liberty is sixth in the region, followed by Bowie State, Indiana (Pa.), Assumption and Johnson C. Smith.
Â
10 UNBEATENS LEFT
Slippery Rock enters this weekend as one of just 10 teams in Division II that is still unbeaten on the year. The other undefeated teams are Colorado State Pueblo, Davenport, Emporia State, Ferris State, Harding, Kutztown, Minnesota State, Northwood and Western Colorado. All 10 teams are 8-0 entering this week.
Â
8-0 TO START THE YEAR
Slippery Rock is 8-0 for the first time since the 2023 season and is looking for its third 9-0 start in the last six seasons and just its fourth 9-0 start in program history. The Rock won their first 10 games of the 2023 season and their first 13 games in 2019 to set the program's single-season winning streak record. Prior to that, SRU hadn't reached 9-0 to open a season since finishing the 1924 season with a 9-0 mark.
Â
BEST OF THE WEST
Slippery Rock has won its first PSAC West title since 2023 and its 10th divisional crown since 2011. The Rock have now won the PSAC West 21 times. SRU had a rare down year in 2025 with a 3-3 divisional record, but has lost just three total divisional games in the other seven years combined dating back to 2018. The Rock are 46-6 in the PSAC West since 2018 and are trying to complete their fourth undefeated divisional season in that stretch. A win this week would mark the seventh time in the last eight seasons that SRU finishes PSAC West play with one or fewer losses.
Â
PSAC CHAMP GAME SCENARIOS
Slippery Rock will host the PSAC Championship game Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. against the East Division winner. That battle is still undecided with Kutztown (4-0), East Stroudsburg (4-0) and Bloomsburg (3-1) still alive in the race. If ESU beats Kutztown this week, ESU will win the spot. If Kutztown beats ESU this week AND Bloomsburg beats West Chester, it will take another week to decide the champ. If Kutztown beats ESU AND West Chester beats Bloomsburg, Kutztown would win the spot.
Â
LAST ROAD GAME
This week marks the final road game in the regular season for SRU. The Rock are 4-0 on the road this year and are outscoring opponents 212-97 in those four games, which included trips to three of the top 11 ranked NPI teams in Super Region One currently in No. 3 East Stroudsburg, No. 11 California and No. 8 Indiana (Pa.).
Â
