LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University senior running back
JayJay Jordan was named the Western Division Special Teams Athlete of the Week when the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference announced its weekly honors Monday.
Â
Jordan, a senior from Reading, Pennsylvania, picks up his fourth PSAC Athlete of the Week award this fall and his first special teams honor thanks to his efforts in The Rock's 66-7 win over Lock Haven Saturday.
Â
He became the first SRU player in program history and the only Division II player in the country this year to return two punts for a touchdown in the same game with return touchdowns of 71 and 75 yards. His 146 punt return yards are the most in a game by any player in Division II this season.
Â
Jordan also ran for 69 yards and one touchdown in the game and finished with 232 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns. His three scores give him 23 total touchdowns on the year, breaking the SRU single-season record of 21 that was set by LaMonte Coleman in 1994 and tied by Henry Litwin in 2019.
Â
Slippery Rock improved to 8-0 with the win and locked up the PSAC West title and hosting rights for the PSAC Championship Nov. 14. The Rock will look to continue their unbeaten start to the season with a noon game on the road at Clarion on Halloween Saturday.
