STANDINGS CHECK
• The top five teams in both the PSAC West and PSAC East standings at the end of the regular season qualify for the conference tournament.
Â
• With each of the eight PSAC West teams having six matches remaining on their respective schedules, three programs have begun to separate from the pack to leave five schools gunning for what would be the final two postseason berths out of the PSAC West.
Â
• IUP and Clarion are tied for first place with matching 7-1 league records entering Friday, with Gannon close behind in third place at 6-2.
Â
• Pitt-Johnstown holds sole possession of fourth place via a 4-4 league record, while Seton Hill and Edinboro are tied for fifth place by way of 3-5 marks.
Â
• Looking to play their way into conference tournament contention are California (2-6) and The Rock (0-8).
Â
• While not mathematically a must-win situation for Slippery Rock, SRU needs to leave the weekend with at least one victory to have a realistic shot of making a late-season run and earning the program's first PSAC Tournament berth since 2008.
NOTHING EASY
Over 20 matches Slippery Rock has yielded just 1.3 aces per set and 86 total aces. The Rock currently is tied for first in the Atlantic Region (PSAC + MEC + CIAA) in total aces allowed and tied for fourth in aces per set allowed among the 39-team region.

Â
Nalbach enters the week with 83 kills, a .265 attack percentage, 40 blocks and seven aces through 19 appearances (17 starts). She is on pace to set career-bests in both kills and blocks, while her ace and dig (38) totals are already personal-bests.
Â
KRAUSE, PASQUALE APPROACHING BENCHMARKS
Rock juniors setter
Paityn Krause and libero
Kara Pasquale head into the waning parts of the season with the chance of hitting impressive statistical benchmarks that have been rarely accomplished inside the program. The duo is two of only three Rock athletes, along with
Hayden Deming, to have played in all 20 matches this season.
Â
Krause currently sits 14th in career assists at The Rock with 1,093, just 79 away from passing Stephanie Kluge (1999-02) for 13th place. A starter in 15 of her 20 matches this season, Krause leads The Rock in assists (310 / 4.92 per set) in addition to ranking third in aces (12) and fourth in digs (93 / 1.48 per set).
Â
Pasquale meanwhile is 91 digs away from becoming the 30th athlete in the program's 53-year history to reach 1,000 career digs. So far this season, Pasquale leads The Rock with 240 digs and ranks 12th in the PSAC with 3.64 digs per set.
ROCK KILL LEADERS
The Rock's overall kill leaders in 2026 continue to be headlined by the duo of
Marley Annis and
Ava Haynes. Annis' 131 kills (2.98 kps / .152) over 14 matches remain a team-high, with Haynes close behind at 120 (2.00 / .098).
Â
Victoria Nalbach (83 / 1.43 / .265),
Emry Rumbaugh (80 / 1.63 / .129) and
Gwen McCarthy (64 / 1.39 / .103) round out SRU's top five kills leaders heading into Friday's match.
Â
YOUTH SERVED
As Slippery Rock's season has progressed, SRU's core group of underclassmen have continued to carve out expanded roles in The Rock's rotation.
Â
• Freshman
Ali Haynes has taken over as Slippery Rock's most productive outside hitter over the last two week with 32 kills (2.91 per set) on a .200 attack percentage in SRU's last four matches.
Â
• Freshman
Emily Loeffler makes up one half of The Rock's setter tandem with
Paityn Krause. A starter in SRU's last three matches, Loeffler begins the weekend with 179 assists (3.89 per set) and four aces and 51 digs.
Â
• Fellow rookie
Chloe Shirk is in the midst of a 16-match streak of starts up front. She is tied for second on The Rock in blocks (18) in addition to adding 38 kills.
Â
• Another talented freshman,
Ellie Friedrichs has done a little bit of everything over the course of the season for Slippery Rock. Friedrichs leads the team in aces with 20 all the while ranking second in digs at 131 and most recently registering a season-best five kills at Clarion.
•Â
Erica Brouse has also seen an uptick in playing time of late, highlighted by an eight-kill night in SRU's win over D'Youville.
Â
• Sophomore
Emry Rumbaugh is fourth on The Rock in kills (80) and tied for second in blocks (18).
Â
• Also nearing the end of her second collegiate season,
Hayden Deming is one of three SRU athletes to have played in all 20 matches and has turned in 57 kills and 18 blocks. Of late, Deming's produced 16 kills on an efficient .238 attack percentage along with nine blocks in the past four outings.
Â
• Sophomore
Leah Schreckengost has served four of her 15 aces in The Rock's last two matches with three in the D'Youville win and one at Clarion.
