D2Baseball Preseason All-America Team
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University senior relief pitcher
Mark Wilbur was named to the 2026 D2Baseball preseason All-America Team, the organization announced Monday.
Wilbur was a first team honoree and one of just four athletes from the Atlantic Region to earn the prestigious preseason accolade.
A 6-foot-4-inch right-handed pitcher from Stow, Ohio, Wilbur enters his final collegiate season at The Rock on the heels of a breakout junior campaign in which he established himself as one of the top bullpen options in Division II.
As a junior, Wilbur made 18 appearances for SRU. He went 2-2 with six saves and a 1.93 ERA in addition to posting a .192 opponent batting average and a 0.93 WHIP. He struck out 52 batters while surrendering just 10 walks over 42 innings pitched.
For his efforts, Wilbur was named a second team All-American by D2Baseball at the conclusion of the 2025 season. He was also a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection for his work both on the field and in the classroom.
Wilbur heads into the 2026 season ranked fourth in Slippery Rock program history for career saves (9) and 20th in appearances (38(.
Joining Wilbur on the 2026 D2Baseball preseason All-America Team from the Atlantic Region were Kaden Swaim (Concord / First Team / Catcher), Michael Valente (California / First Team / Starting Pitcher) and Zach Herb (Seton Hill / Second Team / Relief Pitcher).
Slippery Rock completed its 2025 season with a 31-19 overall record. The Rock qualified for the PSAC Tournament for a third consecutive year after going 16-12 in the PSAC West. The 31 wins secured the 20th 30-win campaign under head coach
Jeff Messer and represented the second highest victory total by the program over the last 16 years.
SRU opens its 2026 season Feb. 20 with a doubleheader against Kutztown University in Cary, North Carolina.Slippery Rock was one of 15 teams to be in the receiving votes section of D2Baseball's preseason top 25 poll.Â
