Rock hosts Shippensburg in PSAC crossover

The Slippery Rock men’s soccer team returns to James Egli Field for a PSAC crossover game 1 p.m. Saturday against Shippensburg.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team returns to James Egli Field for a Pennsylvania State Athlete Conference crossover game 1 p.m. Saturday against Shippensburg University.
 
Slippery Rock enters to match with a 2-1-1 record overall, while Shippensburg owns a 1-2-0 record in 2025.

PARKING NOTE
Reserved parking lots surrounding Mihalik-Thompson Stadium will open at 2 p.m. on Saturday for the Slippery Rock vs Shippensburg Football game. THIS WILL AFFECT PARKING AT JAMES EGLI FIELD. Slippery Rock Athletics kindly asks that any spectator attending the men's soccer game vs Shippensburg at 1 p.m. please avoid parking in Stadium Lots A, B, G, or D. Any vehicle in these lots prior to 2 p.m. will be towed at the expense of the vehicle owner. Spectators/officials may park in Stadium Lot C, or East Lake Parking Lot (large parking lot at Jack Critchfield Park/baseball field.) ADA and bus parking for Egli Field will not be affected. 
 
RING OF HONOR
Saturday marks the return of the Slippery Rock Ring of Honor. Established in 2011, the SRU Ring of Honor recognizes past significant contributors from both the men's and women's soccer programs.
 
The 2025 induction class consists of B. Stephen Carpenter II, Dom Francis and Zach Hall. The group will be formally inducted in a ceremony Saturday at the Russell Wright Alumni House & Conference Center.
 
2025 Ring of Honor inductees will also be recognized at halftime of Saturday's game.

NO PETS AT EGLI FIELD
Fans are reminded that there are NO PETS allowed at James Egli Field or in any SRU Athletics facilities. Please do not bring dogs or any other pets to the game. Unless they are a registered service animal, you will be asked to remove your pet from the facility.

LAST TIME OUT
Thanks to a 58th minute equalizer from Patrick Tierney, Slippery Rock came out with a 1-1 draw at Roberts Wesleyan University Wednesday.
 
Slippery Rock finished with a 12-8 advantage in shots and 5-4 edge in shots on goal.
 
LEADING THE ROCK
After being held without a point for the first time in his career, Cornelis Dedecker still leads Slippery Rock in points with six. Kaden Reynolds and Zsombor Retfalvi are tied for the Slippery Rock goal lead with two. Pandher, Dedecker, Tierney and Jimmy Irani all have one tally for The Rock.

Dedecker leads all SRU players with four assists. Irani, Pandher, Retfalvi, Swanson and Massimo Cuda have all collected one assist.
 
Dedecker leads SRU with 11 shots through four games. Reynolds trails the forward by two shots. Pandher has contributed eight shots, while Retfalvi has accumulated five shots. Pandher leads The Rock with six shots on goal and also ranks 11th in the nation in shots on goal percentage (.750).
 
THE ROCK IN GOAL
Slippery Rock has split time between two goalkeepers in its first four games. Nine is 1-1-0 with three saves on a .500 save percentage, while allowing three goals.
 
Kaufman owns a 1-0-1 record with six saves on a .750 save percentage, while allowing two goals.

ROCK IN THE REGIONAL RANKINGS
The most recent regional rankings of 2025 have been released by the United Socceer Coaches and The Rock sit in eighth place in the Atlantic Region. Slippery Rock is one of seven PSAC schools in the rankings. East Stroudburg University, Bloomsburg University, West Chester University and Millersville University represent the PSAC East, while Gannon University and Seton Hill University join Slippery Rock in representing the PSAC West. PSAC LEADERS
Slippery Rock has players near the top of multiple PSAC leaderboards through the first two weeks of the season. Retfalvi and Reynolds are tied for fifth in goals with two apiece.
 
Dedecker currently sits atop the PSAC in assists with four helpers. Also, Dedecker is tied for fourth in points with six and sixth in shots with 11.
 
Kaufman ranks tied for third in the PSAC in goals against average with 1.0 and is tied for fifth in save percentage with a .750 mark.  Nine is tied for fourth in shutouts with one and is tied for 10th in GAA with 1.5.

DIVISION II LEADERS
Not only is Dedecker highly ranked in the PSAC, the freshman from Nykoping, Sweden is sixth in all of Division II in assists (4) and fifth in assists per game (1.0).
 
WILHELM LOOKING TO MOVE UP SRU WINS LIST
Slippery Rock head coach Kevin Wilhelm is looking to move up on Slippery Rock's all-time wins list for men's soccer. Wilhelm is currently sixth on SRU's all-time wins list with 41 wins, just one behind Michael Bonelli and current Slippery Rock women's soccer head coach Noreen Herlihy. 
 
A COACHING CONNECTION
Slippery Rock will be facing Shippensburg head coach Jeremy Spering who played two years SRU from 2000-01. While at Slippery Rock, Spering earned a letter in both of his seasons. After graduation, Spering volunteered with The Rock as an assistant coach from 2002-04.
 
Shippensburg volunteer assistant coach Matthew Garrett is a Slippery Rock alum as well. Garrett was a four-year starter at SRU from 1996-99 and served as an assistant coach with Slippery Rock after his graduation.

SHIPPENSBURG SCOUTING REPORT
The Raiders have started their season 1-2-0 after a season-opening 6-1 triumph over Chestnut Hill College before losing back-to-back games to Jefferson University and Lock Haven University.
 
Shippensburg has been led by sophomore Kyle Garney, as the forward has collected three goals in three games to start the year. Garney is Shippensburg's point leader with six, as well as its goal leader.
 
Ethan Paulukow, a senior from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, leads all Raiders with two assists. Paulukow also leads Shippensburg with eight shots. The senior has one goal to his name as well.
 
Goalkeepers Ryan Krumenacker and Jack McCann have both played for the Raiders. Krumenacker is 1-1-0 with 11 saves on a .668 save percentage, while allowing 2.5 goals per game. McCann is 0-1-0 with four saves on a .571 save percentage, while allowing 3.0 goals per game.
