B Stephen Carpenter II 2025 Ring of Honor
B. STEPHEN CARPENTER II
Graduation Year: 1987

In 1983 Slippery Rock suffered what legendary head coach Jim Egli later described as "three year's worth of injuries in one season". The string of injuries forced Egli to turn to his freshman class in a sort of baptism by fire. Among the rookies to stand up to the test was a defender from Boyds, Maryland – B. Stephen Carpenter II.

Carpenter proceeded to become a fixture on the field for Slippery Rock once he entered the starting lineup through the remainder of his career. All told, Carpenter missed just two games - both of which came during his freshman year - over the entirety of his four-year career en route to playing 65 games.

The anchor of SRU's back line was named a team captain as a senior all the while earning first team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honors the same season. Slippery Rock won 31 games and made one postseason appearance during Carpenter's career. Between 1983 and 1986 Slippery Rock held opponents to one goal or less 38 times.

In addition to his soccer exploits, Carpenter also competed on The Rock's indoor track & field team (1983) and outdoor track & field team (1984).

The 1983 freshman class, which included Carpenter and 2017 Ring of Honor inductee Matt Veres, holds the distinction of being the last group of four-year athletes to play their entire careers under Egli, the "father" of Slippery Rock soccer and the first man inducted into the NAIA Soccer Hall of Fame.

After earning his bachelor's degree in visual art from Slippery Rock in 1987, Carpenter went on to obtain a master's degree and doctorate in art education from Penn State University.

Carpenter was as professor at Old Dominion University (1995-02), Virginia Commonwealth University (2002-05) and Texas A&M University (2005-10) before returning to Penn State where he currently serves as the Michael J. and Aimee Rusinko Kakos Dean, College of Arts and Architecture and professor of art education and African American studies.

He is also the chief executive artist for Reservoir Studio, was a founding co-director of the Summer Institute on Contemporary Art (a professional development workshop for preK-12 art teachers) and a founding co-director of the SoVA Studio for Sustainability and Social Action, which received a Penn State Strategic Initiative Seed Grant.

Carpenter will be introduced into the Ring of Honor by his wife Dr. Zoubeida Ounaies and daughter Ranya.

Dom Francis 2025 Ring of Honor
DOM FRANCIS
A gifted offensive presence, Dom Francis made a lasting impact in his brief two-year career at Slippery Rock.

Francis committed to The Rock following two seasons at Genesee Community College where he earned National Junior College Athletic Association All-America honors as both a freshman and sophomore after scoring 39 goals and garnering NJCAA Region III Player of the Year accolades in 2012.

At SRU, Francis appeared in 36 of a possible 38 games with 32 starts during his junior and senior campaigns in 2013 and 2014.

Picking up where he left off at Genesee, Francis registered 32 points on 13 goals and six assists during his time at SRU with 65 shots, 34 of which were on goal. Since 2010, only three other Slippery Rock athletes have scored more goals in a two-year stretch than Francis' 13.

A two-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honoree, Francis guided The Rock to a 24-11-3 (.671) record. SRU qualified for the PSAC Tournament in both of Francis' seasons wearing the Green and White with the highlight coming in 2013 as SRU went 13-4-3, won the PSAC Tournament championship and earned an NCAA Tournament berth.

After attending The Rock, Francis embarked on a professional career with the Harrisburg Heat and the Kansas City Comets of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). A two-time MASL All-Star, Francis compiled 225 points (158 goals / 67 assists) across 176 games with Harrisburg and Kansas City.

Off the field, Francis is the CEO of AMA Athletix and is part of the ownership group of the Capital City Islanders of the United Premier Soccer League. He resides in Lancaster county with his wife Ashley and son Alfie.

Francis will be introduced into the Ring of Honor by McKinley.

Zach Hall 2025 Ring of Honor
ZACH HALL
Graduation Year: 2014

Zach Hall was a key four-year contributor during one of the top stretches of success for the Slippery Rock men's soccer program in recent memory.

Hall, a midfielder and native of Allison Park, Pennsylvania who came to The Rock following a prep career at Deer Lakes High School, appeared in 71 games with 36 starts between 2010 and 2013. Hall helped to lead SRU to a 42-23-12 (.615) overall record during his time at The Rock with three postseason appearances capped off by a senior year in which he captained a Slippery Rock squad that won the PSAC Tournament, earned an NCAA Tournament berth and ultimately finished the year 13-4-3.

Over his collegiate career, Hall recorded 23 points on eight goals and seven assists. He scored five game-winning goals while placing 20 of his 46 career shots on target. Statistically speaking, Hall's best year came in SRU's PSAC championship 2013 season when the senior started 19 games on the way to tallying 11 points via four goals and three assists. All four of Hall's scores served as game-winning goals.

Since graduating from Slippery Rock in 2014 as a marketing major, Hall has continued to give back to SRU men's soccer as the program's alumni coordinator. He currently works in strategic sourcing/project management for WNS Denali. Hall resides in Allison Park, Pennsylvania with his wife Skyler and their children Liam and Maisy.

Hall will be introduced by fellow Slippery Rock men's soccer alum Michael Ramirez.
