2024 Statistics
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University field hockey team was picked to finish 10th in the 2025 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference preseason coaches' poll, the conference office announced Monday.
Annually the toughest field hockey conference in Division II, 30 of the previous 35 national champions dating back to the 1981 season have come from the PSAC.
2024 national runner-up, and 2023 NCAA champion, Kutztown was picked to win the conference with seven first-place votes while East Stroudsburg occupied second place with two first-place votes followed by defending PSAC Tournament champions Shippensburg in third with one first-place vote.
The remainder of the 2025 PSAC preseason coaches' poll saw West Chester in fourth with Bloomsburg, Mansfield, Indiana (Pa.), Millersville, Frostburg State and The Rock rounding out the list.
CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT IN LIFE
The 2025 season will largely be a year of change for a Slippery Rock program.
Not only will SRU be dealing with normal roster attrition that includes breaking in a new starting goalkeeper for the first time in four years due to the graduation of
Grace Burker and losing five of its nine goal scorers from a season ago, The Rock will also undergo a shift in leadership following the departure of Rayell Wallace, who stepped down as head coach at SRU after five seasons at The Rock to take the same position at Shippensburg.
REVESZ TAKES CHARGE
Despite all the upheaval, a huge piece of continuity was retained as longtime assistant coach
Missy Revesz was promoted to head coach in the offseason. The 2025 season marks the eighth year in which Revesz has been on the sidelines at The Rock.
A pillar of stability inside the program, Revesz was previously the top assistant for the Slippery Rock field hockey program since joining former head coach Julie Swiney's staff in 2018. Upon Swiney's departure from The Rock in 2020, Revesz was retained as an assistant coach on Wallace's staff for the past five seasons.
Joining Revesz on the sidelines in her inaugural season officially in charge of the program is assistant coach
Alex Pennington, who brings a winning pedigree with her after helping guide Bucknell to three Patriot League Tournament appearances (2022-24) and before that begin an assistant for a Shippensburg team that won the 2021 Division II national championship.
Revesz and Pennington will oversee a roster that is made up of 17 returners and six newcomers. Included in the returning cast are seven athletes that started 10 or more games a season ago.
RETURNING SENIORS
While few in number, The Rock's 2025 senior class is large in talent as
Christina Clymer,
Megan Rude and
Sammy Graci have all positioned themselves as key components to SRU's success.
Clymer looked every bit the part of a Division I athlete in her debut season with The Rock a year ago as the former Ball State Cardinal started all 16 games, totaling six defensive saves while placing eight of her 14 shots on target offensively. She closed the year ranked 10th in the nation in defensive saves.
Rude has been a fixture on The Rock's defense in each of her first three seasons. She is yet to miss a game in her collegiate career with 50 straight appearances including 32 consecutive starts.
A veteran of 45 career games played – including 20 starts – Graci earned the most playing time of her career as a junior in 2024 when she appeared in all 16 games while making 13 starts and totaling three defensive saves to go with one goal.
RETURNING JUNIORS
Slippery Rock's eight-athlete junior class bring a collective 154 games of collegiate field hockey experience with them into the 2025 season.
Forward / midfielder
Hilary Hoffman, SRU's lone returning All-PSAC athlete, has started every game she's suited up for in a Rock unfirm (32) on the way to compiling 18 total points in two seasons on six goals and six assists with 38 of her 61 shots being on target.
As a sophomore, Hoffman finished tied for the team lead in assists (4) in addition to going for two goals.
Forward
Madison Shomo has proven to be remarkably consistent in her first two years at The Rock. A starter in 23 of her 32 career games played, Shomo has missed just one game at SRU while scoring two goals on eight shots in back-to-back years and also tallying an assist as a sophomore.
Forward / midfielder
Lucy Hutchinson (25) and midfielder
Paige Shannon (23) have combined to play in 48 career games with Shannon earning 14 starts – all of which came during her freshman campaign in 2023.
The trio of forward / midfielder
Lacey Berghorn, forward / midfielder
Julia Boettler and midfielder
Haylie Sucharski are all back as well. While they saw limited playing time a season ago, each has starting experience from their freshman years.
After missing last season due to injury, goalkeeper
Leah Riegling is also back. She is the only goalie on the roster with prior collegiate experience – albeit brief – in the form of a 30-minute second half appearance in The Rock's 2023 9-0 win over Roberts Wesleyan.
RETURNING SOPHOMORES
Just one member of The Rock's 2024 freshman class opted not to return to SRU for their sophomore seasons.
The midfielder / back duo of
Riley Cloude and
Roz Mikulak made immediate impacts during their rookie years a season ago as the pair each made 15 starts with Mikulak registering two defensive saves to go with five total shots.
Forward / midfielder
Grace Williams is the only returning sophomore to have notched her first career goal as a freshman courtesy of a score on the road at Shippensburg in what was one of her eight appearances in 2024.
Forward / midfielder
Coral Piramo, back
Payton Kane and goalkeeper
Emily Newton also return after seeing limited opportunities in 2024.
2025 RECRUITING CLASS
Revesz's first recruiting class is made up of five true freshmen and one transfer -
Ava Masorti who played in 15 games as a rookie in 2024 at Converse - spanning every position outside of goalie. All six athletes come from the Keystone commonwealth.

2025 SCHEDULE
Slippery Rock will embark on a 17-game schedule in 2025 with eight non-conference tilts in addition to its daunting nine-PSAC contests.
The eight non-league games consist of three matchups with fellow PSAC members that will not count towards the conference standings as well as five opponents from outside the conference. Eight of The Rock's 14 unique opponents in 2025 are coming off winning seasons a year ago with three others having finished just a game under .500.
All told, Slippery Rock's opponents combined for a 150-112 (.573) overall record in 2024.
SRU needs to finish in the top six in the conference standings at the conclusion of the regular season to qualify for the PSAC Tournament for the first time since 2017.
