Rotter named National Player of the Week

Grace Rotter was named the IWLCA Division II National Offensive Player of the Week for her performance in The Rock's NCAA quarterfinal win over West Chester.

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse attacker Grace Rotter was named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division II National Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday in recognition of her performance in the NCAA quarterfinals Saturday.

Rotter, a junior from Beverly Hills, Michigan, earned the national recognition after tallying six points with three goals and three assists in Slippery Rock's historic 16-13 upset on the road at previously undefeated No. 1 seed West Chester Saturday. That victory gave The Rock their first-ever regional title and sends the team to the national semifinals this week for the first time ever.

In her first season at SRU this spring, Rotter has racked up a team-high 74 points to mark the third-most points in a single-season in program history. She has netted 48 goals to go along with 26 assists while also recording 25 caused turnovers and 20 ground balls.

Slippery Rock drew the No. 2 seed in the national semifinals and will face No. 3 seed Adelphi Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. in Salem, Virginia. A detailed game preview for the semifinals can be found HERE.
