LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University junior standout
Amaia Balaguer Brau has been named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Balaguer Brau has now garnered PSAC West Athlete of the Week recognition five times over her two-year stay at The Rock.

The Benicarlo, Spain native earned her latest award after posting a perfect 4-0 record between singles and doubles play over two matches last week.

Balaguer Brau was a flawless 2-0 at both No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles alongside partner
Tina Slovak as The Rock blanked Clarion 7-0 and narrowly missed earning a victory against No. 40 Charleston in a tight 4-3 loss to the Golden Eagles.

Now the 27th-ranked singles athlete in Division II by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, Balaguer Brau is in the midst of another standout year in which she's won five consecutive matches to improve her record 18-8 overall and 9-5 from the first flight. In doubles competition, Balaguer Brau is 13-6 including a 11-3 dual match mark while partnering with Slovak.

The 2024 PSAC West Athlete of the Year, Balaguer Brau has compiled a 37-17 (.685) singles record since coming to The Rock.

Slippery Rock continues its PSAC West schedule when it hosts Seton Hill University 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the SRU Tennis Courts.
