SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's track & field team recorded 23 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks and four event wins at the Dave Labor Invitational hosted by SRU Saturday at the William Lennox Track.

More than 1,200 athletes from 37 different colleges competed at the first of four home meets this spring for Slippery Rock. The hammer throw took place Friday with the rest of the events occurring over a stretch of 11 hours Saturday.

Slippery Rock picked up individual wins in the 100-meter dash and the long jump and swept both relays on the day.

Samantha Gilbert had a hand in two of the wins after she took the top spot in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.06 seconds in the finals. That came after she clocked a time of 11.83 seconds in the prelims. Gilbert led three SRU athletes to the PSAC mark in the 100m with Regan Johnson finishing fifth in the finals in 12.39 seconds (12.19 in prelims) and Jianna Long also clocking a time of 12.24 seconds in the prelims. Those three teamed with Layne Miller to win the 4x100-meter relay in 47.12 seconds.

The Rock took the top spot in the 4x400-meter relay as well with Annasophia Stauffer, Shannon McCullough, Lydia Reed and Long combining to post a time of 4:03.02. It capped a busy day for Long, who also hit the PSAC standard in the 200-meter dash with a fourth place finish in 25.33 seconds. Gilbert finished just head of her in second in 25.03 seconds.

The Rock's distance runners tallied five PSAC qualifying marks, including four in the 1,500-meter run. Anna Igims led the way with a runner-up finish in 4:41.41. Ruthie Hughes followed in fifth in 4:45.81. Jennifer Cichra was ninth in 4:51.03 and Hannah Burgoon was 13th in 4:53.96. Cichra also hit the PSAC mark in the 800-meter run with a 14th place finish in 2:21.03. Sydney Pitcovich rounded out the top distance efforts with a 10th place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:16.73, but the time will not count for a PSAC qualifier because the first barrier was not placed on the track in time for the first lap, so all runners missed the opening barrier.

Chaley Younkin capped the PSAC efforts on the track with a fourth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.92 seconds.

Baylee Blauser picked up the lone field event win for SRU with a victory in the long jump after recording a leap of 5.66 meters. Aleks Brozeski led the way in the triple jump with a fourth place mark of 11.20 meters to give SRU two PSAC qualifiers in the horizontal jumps.

Allie Taylor and Addison Lyles both hit the PSAC standard in the pole vault, which was moved indoors due to the weather conditions. Taylor was seventh with a clearance of 3.55 meters and Lyles was ninth at 3.40 meters.

Sarah Corrie led a trio of SRU throwers to the PSAC mark in the shot put with a fifth place finish and a season-best toss of 13.12 meters. Becca Martin was sixth at 13.10 meters and Olivia Heckman was seventh at 12.97 meters.

Sydney Hale and Haley Domagala each met the PSAC standard in the discus with Hale taking fifth in the seeded section with a throw of 38.22 meters and Domagala finishing sixth at 38.10 meters. Eva Tokar rounded out the PSAC efforts with a sixth place showing in the javelin with a throw of 37.12 meters.

A look at the top 10 finishers and qualifiers from the home meet can be found below. Full SRU results are available HERE.

Slippery Rock will hit the road again next week with plans to compete at three different meets, including the Susquehanna Multi Thursday and Friday, the Westminster Invitational Friday and Saturday and the Bucknell Outdoor Classic Saturday and Sunday.
