SERIES HISTORY
Annually two of the top teams in not only the PSAC, but the entire Atlantic Region, Slippery Rock and Indiana have met in the regular season and the postseason in each of the last four years. All told, the Crimson Hawks hold a 45-27 all-time record against SRU.  
 
Amaia Balaguer Brau has had the most success of any current Rock athlete against IUP, going 3-1 including one victory during the individual portion of this season against Dani Ramos in the semifinals of the ITA Atlantic Region Singles Championships. Nicole Kempton also went 2-1 against IUP athletes a season ago.

• Slippery Rock returned from its spring trip to win two Atlantic Region matches last week, defeating West Virginia Wesleyan (7-0) at home and earning a road win at Fairmont State (5-2).

SAKHANOVA NAMED ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Highlighting The Rock's perfect 2-0 record last week was the play of Dari Sakhanova. She was one of two SRU athletes – along with Georgie Lancaster – to record a perfect 4-0 record in singles and doubles play across the two matches.
 
A former All-PSAC West honoree and the 2023 PSAC West Freshman of the Year, Sakhanova has already racked up 87 career victories (43 singles / 44 doubles). With a large portion of the 2024-25 season still to be played, Sakhanova has the chance to become the 15th athlete in program history to reach 100 wins.

Following its wins over West Virginia Wesleyan, Slippery Rock has now won 17 consecutive games at the SRU Tennis Courts dating back to the 2020-21 season.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
• A staple of Rock tennis during the Matt Meredith era has been strong doubles play, and the 2025 season has been no exception. SRU has earned the doubles point in seven of 11 matches this year.
 
• Nicole Kempton and Alissia Kivi form Slippery Rock's top doubles pairing. Part of their 17-5 overall record is a 7-3 dual match mark.
 
• Another first-year partnership, Amaia Balaguer Brau and Tina Slovak are 8-3 out of the second flight.
 
• Georgie Lancaster and Dari Sakhanova have posted victories in two straight matches to push their winning streak to .500 at 5-5.

• Balaguer Brau, who jumped 10 spots in this week's ITA Division II singles rankings to No. 26, anchors The Rock's singles lineup with a 15-8 overall record and a 6-5 dual match showing. She's captured wins in five of her last seven outings.
 
• Kivi enters the IUP match on a team-high three-game winning streak and in possession of a 13-6 overall record and 7-4 in dual matches while competing primarily out of the second flight.
 
• One of four Rock athletes with a double-digit singles win total, Kempton's gone 10-8 overall and 5-3 when playing from the third flight so far in her sophomore campaign. Like Balaguer Brau, Kempton's taken five of her last seven matches.
 
• The back half of Slippery Rock's singles lineup: Slovak (7-7), Sakhanova (12-7) and Lancaster (7-9) are all on two-match winning streaks. Sakhanova, the reigning PSAC West Athlete of the Week, ranks third on the team in total wins with 12.
