USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-Americans
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse defender
Paige Jenkins was named to preseason All-America honors when USA Lacrosse Magazine announced its NCAA Division II Preseason All-Americans.
Â
The USA Lacrosse Preseason All-America team was selected by the magazine's staff with contributions from collegiate coaches across the nation.
Â
Jenkins, a sophomore from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was named to second team honors and is one of just 11 defenders nationwide to be recognized on one of the three Preseason All-America teams.
Â
Slippery Rock also earned preseason recognition as a team with USA Lacrosse Magazine listing The Rock as one of the six teams "also considered" for its
preseason national rankings, which ranks only 20 teams.
Â
Jenkins is coming off a stellar freshman season in which she earned All-PSAC and All-Region honors in her first year of collegiate competition. She started all 19 games and grabbed an SRU freshman record 66 draw controls to go along with 22 caused turnovers and 29 ground balls. The 29 ground balls tied for the most on the team among all field players.
Â
The Rock are coming off a 15-4 season a year ago that established a new single-season record for victories in the program. SRU also picked up its first modern-era postseason win with a victory in the opening round of the PSAC Playoffs and closed the year ranked No. 5 in the Atlantic Region rankings to mark the most successful season since SRU reinstated the sport at the varsity level in 2007.
Â
Slippery Rock will open the 2025 season on the road at the University of Findlay Feb. 23. More information is available in the season preview, linked
