SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University field hockey team returns home to host Indiana University (Pa.) for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game on International Students Day 4 p.m. Tuesday at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS DAY
As part of The Rock field hockey program's 2024 special events colander, Tuesday's game will be International Students Day at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Kristen Kordich, the clerical assistant for the Office For Global Engagement at Slippery Rock, will take part in a ceremonial pass back. Among her many duties at Slippery Rock, Kordich supports the daily functions of the office as well as office events, study abroad, new and returning International Students and International Admissions.

IUP has won six consecutive games over The Rock to improve its record in the all-time series to 46-26-1. While the Crimson Hawks have not lost to SRU since 2018, three of the last six games have been one-goal decisions. Gianna Conti (1 goal) and Leslie Colliver (1 assist) have points over their careers against IUP while Grace Burker has made 24 saves in four career starts vs. the Crimson Hawks.
 
LAST MEETING
Gianna Conti scored one goal and Grace Burker made seven saves, but Slippery Rock lost to Indiana (Pa.) on the road, 2-1, Sept. 26, 2023 in PSAC competition. Conti gave SRU an early lead with a goal in the 10th minute before the Crimson Hawks rallied with scores from Sydney Schmouder (18') and Claire Murphy (35') in addition to four saves by Anita Planella to pull of the comeback win.

Slippery Rock opened the PSAC portion of its 2024 schedule with a 6-2 loss at No. 5 West Chester University. Hazara Sandhu registered a three-point showing with one goal and one assist. Gianna Conti scored a goal as well to help pace The Rock.
 
SCOUTING THE ROCK
• SRU has played one of the toughest schedules in the nation this year. Three of The Rock's six opponents have been ranked at the time of competition. All told, Slippery Rock's past opponents have combined for a 28-18 record (609.)
 
• Slippery Rock welcomes the Crimson Hawks averaging 1.83 goals per game on 9.5 shots and 5.2 penalty corners a contest. Defensively, SRU yields 4.33 goals a game courtesy of 21.5 shots and 11.7 opponent corners.
 
• Through six games, Gianna Conti has compiled a team-high nine points on four goals and one assist while also having placed all 13 of her attempts on target.
 
• Bailee Christman is SRU's other multi-goal scorer with three in addition to her two assists for eight points.
 
• Fresh off her best offensive performance in a Rock uniform, Hazara Sandhu ranks third for The Rock in points with four via one goal and two assists.
 
• Leslie Colliver, Grace Williams and Feli Stockler have all chipped in one goal apiece with Colliver also distributing one assist.
 
• Hilary Hoffman is tied with Sandhu and Christman for the team lead in assists at two.
 
• Haley Metcalf rounds out SRU's offensive leaders so far with one assist.

SCOUTING THE CRIMSON HAWKS
• Since beating Belmont Abbey 2-1 to start the season, IUP has suffered losses to Mount Olive (5-3), Millersville (5-3 / 3-2), Pace (3-2) and West Chester (4-1).  
 
• IUP scores 1.83 goals a game while giving up 3.00.
 
• Cassie Romanczuk is responsible for the bulk of the IUP offensive attack having scored five of the Crimson Hawks' 11 goals. Romanczuk places 18 of her 33 shots on target.
 
• Jess Davidson (3), Lilly Fringer (2) and Lauren Horning (1) account for Indiana's other six goals.
 
• Brooke Eberly and Anita Planella split time in goal for the Crimson Hawks with each having started three games.
 
• Planella is 1-2 with a 2.67 GAA and 13 saves (.684) in 134:53. Eberly is 0-3 in 188:33 with seven saves (.368) and a 3.82 GAA.
