INDIANA, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division road match against Indiana University (Pa.) in three sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-19) Friday at the Kovalchick Convention & Athletic Complex.

The PSAC West setback drops The Rock's record to 11-12 overall and 4-7 in league matches while the host Crimson Hawks improve to 17-8 overall and 7-4 inside the conference.

In addition to making a team-high 11 digs, Kate Lachendro-Biery also served a Rock-best four aces. Lachendro-Biery's 11-dig evening pushed her career total to 2,083 - which ranks 18th in PSAC history.

Slippery Rock held a 14-13 advantage midway through the opener before IUP rallied with a 12-4 set-ending run on the way to a 25-18 victory in the first set. The Rock and Crimson Hawks played evenly for much of the second set before Indiana turned a close 19-16 lead into a 25-19 win by taking six of the final nine points.

SRU was unable to avoid the sweep as Indiana jumped out to a 13-5 lead in the final set and was able to withstand a late Rock comeback bid which saw SRU trim its deficit to four points (22-18) before ultimately succumbing to the 25-19 match-deciding win.
