CLARION, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost its final road match of the season at Clarion in four sets (25-19, 25-19, 20-25, 25-23) Saturday at Tippin Gymnasium.

Saturday's result drops The Rock's record to 11-13 overall and 4-8 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division competition while the Golden Eagles improved to 15-8 overall and 9-3 inside the PSAC West.

Erica Selfridge paced Slippery Rock's efforts via a 15-kill, 10-dig, two-ace afternoon that included a .238 attack percentage as part of what was her 13th double-double of the year. Selfridge has now recorded exactly 15 kills in three of SRU's last four matches.

Chelsie Wheeler nearly joined Selfridge with double figure kills, finishing with eight courtesy of a stellar .389 attack percentage in addition to three blocks.

SRU's middle hitter duo of
Lauren VonderHaar and
Aslyn Pry combined for 11 total blocks. VonderHaar, the reigning PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Week, tallied seven rejections (two solo / five assisted) with Pry coming up with four blocks to go with six kills and one ace offensively.

Setters
Jaeden Yost (19) and
Brooke Farrah (12) combined for 31 of The Rock's 39 assists. Yost also served one ace.

Rounding out The Rock's top performers were
Kate Lachendro-Biery (23 digs),
Kara Pasquale (13 digs) and
Gwen McCarthy (two kills, one ace, one block).

Clarion earned its home victory by holding edges over The Rock in kills (49-40), hitting percentage (.105-.051), aces (7-5) and digs (75-70) while SRU won the blocks battle (11-10).

After dropping a pair of 25-19 decisions to open the match, Slippery Rock avoided the sweep with a convincing 25-20 third-set victory.

Trailing 16-13, SRU dominated the remainder of the must-win set by darting off on a 12-4 run. The Rock benefitted from seven Clarion attack errors over the suprt, two of which came by way of VonderHaar blocks.

However, Slippery Rock was unable to complete its comeback bid as the Golden Eagles took a back-and-forth fourth set, 25-23. The Rock and Clarion combined for six runs of at least three points in the final set of the match.

SRU led Clarion late, 22-21, but the Golden Eagles answered by accounting for four of the final five points of the set to stave off The Rock. Cassidy Snider led Clarion in the win with 17 kills, 17 digs, four blocks and four aces.

Slippery Rock will conclude its season with a pair of home matches Nov. 15-16 at Morrow Field House against Edinboro and Gannon.
