D2football.com Elite 100 Watch List

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University wide receiver Kyle Sheets was one of four receivers in the country to be listed on the first or second team of the D2football.com Elite 100 Watch List that was announced Friday.
 
The D2football.com Elite 100 Watch List is the new name of the Preseason All-America team that was formerly announced by D2football.com. It includes first team and second team selections and a group of players on the "squad" list. The team is selected by a group of D2football.com panelists with input from small-school scout Josh Buchanan of Draftscout.com.
 
Sheets was named to the second team and is one of just four wide receivers in the country to be named to first or second team honors, joining Marquis Gray (Southeastern Oklahoma), Max McLeod (Colorado School of Mines) and Yogi Fleager Jr. (McKendree).
 
A senior from Springboro, Pennsylvania, Sheets is one of only three offensive players from Super Region One schools to be included on the Elite 100 Watch List, joining Findlay offensive lineman Michael Jerrell and Notre Dame (Ohio) tight end CJ Kiss.
 
Sheets is coming off a breakout junior year in which he led The Rock with 54 catches for 887 yards and nine touchdowns last fall. He also caught 23 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore in 2021 while playing behind three receivers that would go on to sign professional football contracts (Henry Litwin, Cinque Sweeting, Jermaine Wynn Jr.).
 
At 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Sheets' size, athleticism and ball control skills have landed him on the radar of professional scouts entering the 2023 season.
 
Slippery Rock will open the season with three straight home night games beginning Sept. 2 with a 6 p.m. kickoff against Wayne State. Tickets and reserved parking information is available HERE.
