WHEELING, W. Va. - The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost a non-conference match on the road at Wheeling University Saturday in three sets 25-22, 25-15, 25-14.

After trailing by as many as five points early in the first set, Slippery battled back to pull even with the Cardinals throughout the late stages of the opener at 17-17, 18-18 and 19-19. However, Wheeling staved off SRU's comeback bid with a 6-3 run to eke out a 25-22 win.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 10-5 lead in the second set and while SRU was able to trim the deficit to as little as two points on one occasion, Wheeling eventually pulled away down the stretch for a 25-15 victory.

The third set saw Wheeling lead by as many as 10 points at 17-7 en route to the 25-14 match-deciding victory.
