SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University has announced it will not allow spectators at its men's and women's basketball games beginning Jan. 25 in response to growing concerns related to COVID-19.
Â
There is no announced timetable for the return of spectators to SRU basketball games. A decision on if or when spectators will be permitted to return to basketball games will be announced when it is made. Â
Â
This change to the spectator policy is a direct result of continued disregard for the University's masking policy at recent basketball games. It is being instituted to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and give our student-athletes the best chance at completing their seasons without further postponements and cancellations.
Â
The Rock basketball teams have seen more than a dozen combined games postponed or canceled due to an increased spread of COVID-19 in recent weeks.
Â
Fans are reminded that all remaining basketball games this season will be available to watch for free on the
Rock Athletics Digital Network and the
PSAC Sports Digital Network. Fans can access games via their web browsers on computers, phones and tablets and can access the games via the Rock Athletics Digital Network or PSAC Digital Network television apps available for free on Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV devices. Simply search for "Rock Athletics" or "PSAC Sports" in the app stores on those respective devices to download the apps.
