Â
Slippery Rock held and early 5-4 lead in the second set before the Griffins captured six consecutive points to pull ahead 10-5 and force a Rock timeout. SRU came out of the break strong, recording seven of the next nine points to cut SHU's lead down to just two points at 12-10. However, Seton Hill used a timeout of its own and came out of that break to rattle off five straight points to build a lead SRU never truly threatened en route to an eventual 25-16 win.
Â
The third set was a back-and-forth game between two evenly-matched teams. With the set tied 10-10, Slippery Rock darted off on a 4-0 run only for Seton Hill to answer back with a 6-2 charge to force another tie at 16-16. From there, SHU took six of the following eight points to jump ahead, 22-18.
Â
Not to be outdone, The Rock had one more run in them in the form of a 5-1 surge that brought the two teams even for an 11th time in the set at 23-23. However, Seton Hill closed out the set, and the match, with two straight points via a Bobbi Rempe kill and a Rock attack error to give the Griffins a narrow two-point match-deciding win.
