SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – In accordance with announced schedule changes by the NCAA and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, Slippery Rock University has begun adjusting its fall sports schedules, should competition resume.

The NCAA Division II governance voted to lower the maximum number of allowable regular season contests for all sports in 2020-21 (
Click Here for the NCAA announcement and list of changes). The PSAC then voted to adjust its mandated conference schedules to better align with the Division II changes.

As of June 5, the SRU schedules for its fall sports have been altered. Confirmed changes have been made to the schedule pages on the SRU athletics website. Additional changes will be announced in the coming weeks.

While these schedule updates are the first announced changes for 2020-21, there are still many questions to be answered before the return of sports to campuses this fall. Most of those decisions will be announced at a later date based on available information and recommendations from local, regional and national health and safety organizations.

A breakdown of these initial schedule changes, should competition resume in the fall, is listed below.
Â
FOOTBALL
-Â Â Â Â Â Â The NCAA voted to reduce the regular season from 11 games to 10 games.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â The PSAC voted to reduce mandated PSAC games from 10 games to nine games.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â SRU will no longer play at Lock Haven in 2020.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â SRU will move the first two games of the season back one week each. SRU will now host Wayne State Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. in the season opener. SRU will travel to East Stroudsburg Sept. 19 for a 1p.m. kickoff.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â No additional changes to dates or opponents from Sept. 26 through the end of the season. Kickoff times may still change.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â No changes to the NCAA playoff structure.

FIELD HOCKEY
-Â Â Â Â Â Â THE NCAA voted to reduce the regular season from 18 games to 14 games.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â SRU will play its regularly scheduled PSAC games.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â SRU will cancel games against American International College (Sept. 12), Coker University (Sept. 19) and Newberry College (Sept. 20).
-Â Â Â Â Â Â SRU must cancel one additional game. The schedule will be updated when that decision is finalized.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
-Â Â Â Â Â Â The NCAA voted to reduce the regular season from 18 games to 14 games.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â The PSAC voted to eliminate the second game against two divisional opponents to get the schedule down to the required amount of games.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â SRU will play Clarion and Seton Hill once in 2020 and the rest of the PSAC West schools twice.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â SRU will cancel non-conference games against West Virginia Wesleyan and Fairmont State.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â The new tentative date for the season opener will be Sept. 16 at home against Pitt-Johnstown.

MEN'S SOCCER
-Â Â Â Â Â Â The NCAA voted to reduce the regular season from 18 games to 14 games.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â SRU will play its regularly scheduled 10 PSAC West games.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â SRU must eliminate four non-conference games from its schedule. The schedule will be updated when those decisions are finalized.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
-Â Â Â Â Â Â The PSAC voted to eliminate the fall singles/doubles championship tournament.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â The PSAC voted to eliminate the fall crossover dual matches.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â The PSAC dual schedule will now begin March 27, 2021 for SRU.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Any additional changes to the schedule will be updated.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
-Â Â Â Â Â Â The NCAA voted to reduce the number of scheduled dates to 20.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â SRU must cancel two dates from its schedule.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Any additional changes to the schedule will be announced at a later date.

CROSS COUNTRY
-Â Â Â Â Â Â No changes to the anticipated schedule at this time.
