Rock set for PSAC showdowns against Lock Haven and Gannon

The Slippery Rock men’s soccer team will begin the PSAC portion of its schedule 1:30 p.m. Friday in a matchup with Lock Haven at James Egli Field and then it hits the road for a 3 p.m. game Sunday at Gannon.

SCOUTING THE ROCK
• LAST TIME OUT – Slippery Rock defeated Cedarville, 1-0, at home on Sept. 15. Luke Picchi tallied the game-winner and Matt Hunsberger made four saves in net en route to the shutout victory.
 
• THE LEADER – Picchi leads the team in scoring with four points on two goals. Picchi's game-winner was his second goal of the season. It was the second game-winning goal of his SRU career.  
 
OTHER CONTRIBUTORS – Hayden Seifert is second on the roster in total points with three on one goal and one assist and George Oakley, Justin Minda and Alexander Vilchek are tied for third with two points each.
 
DEFENSIVE-MINDED – Defensively, SRU is one of the tougher teams in the PSAC ranking fourth in both goals allowed with six and goals against average at 1.00.
 
• TOUGH TO SCORE ON – Hunsberger has been solid in net thus far for SRU starting all six games, making 28 saves on 76 shots faced, registered two shutouts, has a goals against average of 0.96 and a save percentage of .824.
 
• AGAINST LOCK HAVEN – SRU won its previous five matches against Lock Haven before last season. In its last six games, The Rock are outscoring the Bald Eagles, 16-4.
 
• AGAINST GANNON – The Rock have taken six of the last eight games against Gannon and have outscored them, 15-7.

• Brian Flatter is third on the team with eight points on two goals and four assists, while Reggie Holt is fourth with six points on three goals.
 
• Camden Cook has started all seven games for LHU in goal, has a 0.61 goals against average and a .818 save percentage.
 
•  Lock Haven is off to its best seven-game start since 2011. During that season, LHU was 5-2 through its first seven contests.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
•  Gannon is led by Sam Thornton who has registered eight points on four goals. Two of Thornton's scores have been game-winners.  
 
• E. de Bonis Encinoso and Tyler Martin are tied for second on the roster in points with three on one goal and one assist apiece.  
 
• Martin N-V Anaestad and Cam Alexander have both recorded one goal.  
 
•  Hedi Mehnaoui has started five games in goal for Gannon had has a 2.39 goals against average along with a .474 save percentage.
