SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's track and field team picked up two points from
Kelci Yale in the hammer throw on Thursday at the first day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

Yale placed seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.80 meters to score two points in the team standings.
Â
Only two event finals were contested Thursday on the first of the three-day championship meet with the 10,000-meter run capping the night off.
Â
Yale was one of four SRU entries in the hammer throw.
Anna Frengel placed 13th with a mark of 42.84 meters, followed by
Abby Way in 14th at 41.54 meters and
Kati Palski in 17th at 40.51 meters.

Sabrina Palmieri competed in the 10,000-meter run and placed 12th in 40:57.94.

The Rock was also represented on day one of the meet by
Asia Broaddus and
Kaelyn Keane in the first four events of the seven-event heptathlon. With three events to go, Broaddus sits sixth with 2,395 points, while Keane is seventh with 2,315 points.

Millersville had a dominant effort in the hammer throw and leads the team standings after the first day with 27 points. Shippensburg sits second with 15 points, followed by Seton Hill (14), Bloomsburg (10), Kutztown (5), Indiana (3), Slippery Rock (2) and East Stroudsburg (2).

Competition will begin Friday on the second day of action at 10:15 a.m. with the beginning of the final three events of the heptathlon. Field events will begin at noon and track events will begin at 1:15 p.m.
