Results SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches with a 9-0 shutout victory against Seton Hill University Tuesday afternoon at the SRU Tennis Courts.
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division win improved The Rock's record to 10-8 overall and 1-2 in leaague play. Seton Hill dropped to 7-8 overall and 1-3 in PSAC West competition with the loss.
Slippery Rock controlled doubles play and never looked back en route to the shutout victory.
Amanda Bruscemi and
Nina Barbano registered Slippery Rock's first point of the day when they defeated Madison DeBone and Paula Carvajalino, 8-5.
Carla Corrochano Moracho and
Tiffany Kollah picked up their second victory as a team at first doubles with an 8-6 win against Isidora Knezevic and Sara Ruiz.
Stephanie Fortier and
Kylee Woodman sent Slippery Rock into the singles portion of the day leading 3-0 after defeating Alisha Torretti and Mary Baich, 8-2.
The teams of Barbano and Bruscemi and Fortier and Woodman are both 4-0 on the year.
The backend of Slippery Rock's singles lineup clinched the match for The Rock as Fortier downed Torretti 6-0, 6-1 and
Allie Welch bested Baich 6-2, 6-0 at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Corrochano proceeded to beat Knezevic in the first flight 6-2, 6-2 followed by a 6-3, 6-2 win by Barbano against Ruiz at No. 2 singles for the sophomore's fourth straight victory and 14th win of the year overall.
Kollah and Bruscemi concluded the afternoon with a pair of wins from the third and fourth flights. Kollah defeated DeBone 6-4, 7-5 while Bruscemi edged Carvajalino 6-1, 5-7, 10-4 in the closest contest of the match to extend her personal winning streak to three matches.
Slippery Rock continues its three-match homestand 6 p.m. Wednesday against Grove City College in a non-conference match.
