MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team continued its recent string of strong play with a 9-0 shutout-victory over Walsh University Tuesday afternoon in Melbourne, Florida.

The win was Slippery Rock's second consecutive shutout; The Rock also beat Southern Indiana 9-0 on March 7. SRU's improves to 6-3 on the season with the win while Walsh falls to 6-13.

Slippery Rock's No. 1 doubles pairing of
Nina Barbano and
Carla Corrochano Moracho continued to set the tone for The Rock by earning the team's first point of the match with an 8-4 victory over Daria Bondareva and Sofya Logunova.

Tiffany Kollah and
Kylee Woodman gave SRU a 2-0 lead with an 8-4 victory against Snezhana Kiselva and Gabriela Laguna-Leon while
Amanda Bruscemi and
Stephanie Fortier maintained the shutout with a third doubles point for Slippery Rock by way of an 8-4 triumph versus Arina Kravitz and Asia Harris from the second flight.

Bruscemi proceeded to keep the Slippery Rock's momentum going with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Kiselva at fourth singles. Kollah clinched the match for SRU thanks to a 1-6, 6-1, 10-6 win over Harris from the third flight.

The top portion of SRU's singles lineup featured Corrochano defeating Logunova 6-4, 3-6, 10-9 and Barbano besting Bondareva 4-6, 5-2 (injury forfeit). Fortier and
Allie Welch followed suit at the sixth and fifth slots. Welch downed Laguna-Leon 6-2, 2-6, 10-7 and Fortier beat Kravits 6-1, 6-4.
