ResultsWEST LIBERTY, W. Va. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team earned a quality regional victory Sunday afternoon with a 6-3 win at West Liberty University. The win was Slippery Rock's first against the Hilltoppers since the 2011-12 season.
The victory improves The Rock's record to 2-0 while WLU drops to 4-2 after the loss.
Slippery Rock started the afternoon by sweeping doubles play. Junior

Allie Welch picked up The Rock's first point when the duo posted a perfect 8-0 win over Andrea Puga and Alaina Pauley at third doubles.
SRU's first and second doubles teams registered matching 8-6 wins as sophomores
Nina Barbano and
Carla Corrochano Moracho downed Rhiannon James and Raquel Cabero from the first flight while junior
Kylee Woodman and freshman
Amanda Bruscemi bested Ekaterina Pinchuk and Emily Dawson from the second slot. Woodman and Bruscemi have now won their last six matches.
Slippery Rock quickly sealed the team win in singles play thanks to victories from Moracho and Bruscemi at the first and fourth flights, respectively. Moracho was a 6-2, 6-2 winner against Cabero while Bruscemi defeated Puga 6-1, 6-4. Moracho is now 4-2 in singles play on the season.
Kollah capped the day off for SRU with a 6-7, 6-1, 11-9 triumph over James. After having to sit out last season due to transfer rules, Kollah has started her first season of competition at SRU with a 5-2 record.
West Liberty picked up wins at second, fifth and sixth singles. SRU's trio of Barbano, Woodman and Welch all forced tiebreakers, but the Hilltoppers contingent of Dawson (3-6, 6-1, 11-9), Berbel (1-6, 6-3, 10-4) and Pinchuk (3-6, 6-4, 10-6) ultimately came away with the points to avoid the shutout.
Slippery Rock will conclude the fall portion of its schedule Oct. 3-4 with three matches in two days starting with a pair of contests Saturday at West Chester University and at Cheyney University.
