Results SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team opened up the team competition portion of its 2015-16 schedule with a 9-0 victory against Westminster College Wednesday evening at the SRU Tennis Courts.

Allie Welch came together for a dominating performance in SRU's season-opener.
Slippery Rock started the match by sweeping its three doubles matches. Moracho and Barbano downed Mariah Turiano and Christijana Vucenovic, 8-2. Bruscemi and Woodman followed suit with an 8-3 victory from the second flight over Stephanie Homitz and Sydney Sterner. Kollah and Welch rounded out SRU's success in doubles play with an 8-1 win against Molly Somora and Patricia Pivaronas.
Barbano and Welch led the way in singles action with shutout wins against Vucenovic and Somora from the second and sixth flights, respectively. Woodman nearly matched her teammates performances with a 6-1, 6-0 besting of Pivaronas at fifth singles.
Bruscemi won the first singles match of her collegiate career from the fourth flight with a 6-1, 6-1 win against Homitz.
Corrochano and Kollah both played close first sets at first and third singles against Sterner and Turiano before finishing off their opponents with relative ease for 7-6, 6-0 / 7-5, 6-1 wins.
Slippery Rock continues its fall schedule when it plays at West Liberty 12 p.m. Sunday.
