PSAC Championship Singles Results

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Nina Barbano of the Slippery Rock University women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2015 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference individual championships Sunday in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
 
After winning her opening round match at the championships on Saturday, Barbano returned to action Sunday to defeat Bloomsburg's Gabriela Bachinksk in the second round, 6-1, to secure a spot in the quarterfinals where she played Saioa Gomez de Segura of Mercyhurst.
 
However, Barbano's bid for the PSAC singles title would end against Gomez de Segura, who defeated Barbano 6-0 to advance to the tournament's semifinals. Gomez de Segura went on to win the singles crown.
 
Fellow Rock sophomore Carla Corrochano Moracho also competed on Sunday, but lost her second-round contest to West Chester's Maddy Shaak 6-4.
 
Members of the Slippery Rock tennis team will continue individual play Sept. 19 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Championships in Erie, Pennsylvania.
