Results BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team narrowly lost to NCAA Division II regional power the University of Charleston, 5-4, Sunday afternoon at the Bloomsburg Duals in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania.
The loss drops The Rock's record back to the .500 mark on the season at 9-9 overall. Charleston, which is ranked fifth in the Atlantic Region by the NCAA, improves to 16-7 in 2014-15 with the victory.
As was the case for the majority of the contests Sunday, the No. 1 doubles match between The Rock's pairing of

Nina Barbano and Charleston's Kelsey Hensley / Toni Katipa was tightly contested with Slippery Rock pulling away for the 8-6 win.
However, Charleston went on to register wins at second and third doubles to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
Slippery Rock was able to garner three points in singles competition as Barbano (6-2, 6-1),
Stephanie Fortier (2-6, 6-4, 6-2) and
Kylee Woodman (6-3, 7-5) were all victorious. Barbano is now 13-7 on the year at second singles, Woodman remains a perfect 4-0 in the sixth flight and Fortier earned her career-best eighth singles win of the season.
Charleston held off Slippery Rock by tallying wins at first, third and fifth singles to get the win.
Slippery Rock returns to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play when it hosts Clarion University 4 p.m. Tuesday at the SRU Tennis Courts.
