Kutztown Box Score HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team split a pair of matches on the first day of its spring break trip at Hilton Head Island, S.C. on Sunday. Slippery Rock started the day with a 7-0 loss at NCAA Division I USC-Upstate before rebounding with a convincing 9-0 victory against Kutztown University.
The split moves The Rock's record to 2-4 on the year. Kutztown falls to 2-1 in the loss while USC-Upstate improved to 1-7.
After being shutout by USC-Upstate, The Rock was never threatened in its match against Kutztown, which was a non-conference contest between the two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference schools,

Anna Carpenter won at third doubles by default due to KU only having five players active Sunday.
Slippery Rock carried over its momentum from doubles play with a strong showing in singles competition.
Petrovic did not surrender a point to Diffendall in the first flight while Fortier was a 6-0, 6-1 victor against Patterson at the second station.
No. 3 singles belonged to Gallagher, who bested Norman 6-2, 6-0. Gallagher's victory improved her overall record to 4-6 on the year. She is tied with freshman
Nina Barbano for the most wins by a Rock player on the year.
Rounding out The Rock's winners against Kutztown were Munson and Golden at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Munson beat Wertheim 6-1, 6-0 and Golden was an 8-0 winner against Caitlin Davies.
Slippery Rock continues its time in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina on Monday at 8 a.m. against Milligan.
