HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The surging Slippery Rock University women's tennis team continued its winning ways Thursday with a 9-0 victory against Millersville University in a non-conference match at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

The win was Slippery Rock's fourth straight victory and now gives SRU a winning record for the first time this season at 5-4 overall. The winning streak is the longest by Slippery Rock since The Rock won six consecutive matches on their spring break trip during the 2012-13 campaign.

Millersville drops to 1-5 on the season with the loss.

Slippery Rock continued to receive strong play from its doubles teams as The Rock set the tone early with three wins in the opening segment of the match. As a team, Slippery Rock is 10-2 in doubles matches during its current winning streak.

Junior
Courtney Gallagher and freshman
Michaela Golden improved to 3-0 on the year via an 8-0-shutout victory against the Marauders' Brandi Wolgemuth and Samantha Brzenk.

Freshmen
Carla Corrochano Moracho and
Nina Barbano were 8-1 winners against Kaylora Thompson. The young doubles pairing is now 5-6 on the year.

Sophomore
Ana Petrovic and
Stephanie Fortier rounded out Slippery Rock's successful doubles play with an 8-2 win against Nicole Daacke and Kimberly Theophile. Petrovic and Fortier have won two out of their last three matches and are now 3-4 overall this season.

The backend of Slippery Rock's singles lineup registered three shutout wins. Fortier bested Theophile 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth flight. Gallagher followed suit, 8-0, versus Brzenk while sophomore
Emily Munson blanked Maggie Karr 6-0, 6-0 as well at sixth singles.

Fortier and Gallagher have each won five matches this year. Not to be outdone, Munson has won her last three matches to even her singles record to 4-4 on the year.

Corrochano, The Rock's No. 1 singles competitor, beat Davis 6-1, 6-0 to push her 2014-15 record to 6-5. Barbano quickly won her third straight match with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Thompson and Petrovic closed the day out for The Rock with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Daacke.

Slippery Rock will look to extend its winning streak to five matches when it plays Catholic University on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in its final match in South Carolina.
