Traditional Box Score (HTML)MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road at Millersville University Wednesday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.

The Marauders (2-4-1, 1-0-0 PSAC) used a combination of opportunistic scoring and bad luck for the defensive group from Slippery Rock (3-3, 1-1 PSAC) to secure the win.

Millersville's first goal was scored after a Rock defender fell down in front of the goal, allowing Jonathan Dadeboe to walk in all alone for the opening goal in the 47th minute.

Slippery Rock fought off that miscue and evened the game at 1-1 in the 65th minute when
Matt Sangermano scored off an assist from
Josh Allman for his second goal of the season.

Millersville regained the lead for good in the 74th minute when Jaime Vazquez headed in his fourth goal of the season after taking a crossing pass in front of the goal from Ahmed Qaisi.

The bad luck continued for Slippery Rock later in the match when Millersville scored an own goal after a shot from Vazquez was headed into the net by a Rock defender.

Slippery Rock finished the game with advantages in nearly every statistical category, including 19-10 in total shots, 6-5 in shots on goal and 7-4 in corner kicks.

Steven Rerick took the loss in goal after allowing three goals and recording two saves.
Dom Francis took a team-high four shots and matched Sangermano for the team-high in shots on goal with two.

David Brubaker earned the win in goal for Millersville after recording five saves and allowing one goal.

Wednesday's game was a rematch of the PSAC semifinal and NCAA second round games from last fall. Slippery Rock edged Millersville in penalty kicks in the conference semifinals to earn a berth in the title game, where The Rock claimed the league championship. Millersville earned a win and knocked SRU out of the NCAA playoffs one week later.

Slippery Rock returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Shippensburg in a Homecoming match at 1 p.m. at James Egli Field.
