2013-14 SRU PSAC Scholar-AthletesLOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- A total of 178 Slippery Rock University student-athletes were named as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athletes Thursday in a release from the league office for maintaining above a 3.25 grade point average during the 2013-14 academic year.
The conference as a whole set a new record with a total of 2,537 student-athletes from the 18 member institutions earning the honor, which is 36 percent of all student-athletes in the league. The total topped the previous record of 2,201 that was set last year and marks the sixth straight year that more than 30 percent of the total student-athlete population of the league has earned the honor.
Slippery Rock ranked above the league average with 38 percent (178) of its total student-athlete population (468) earning the honor. A total of 110 females and 68 males represent The Rock on the list of 2013-14 PSAC Scholar-Athletes.
