URBANA, Ohio – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team scored an early goal and held off Urbana University to earn a 1-0 win Friday in non-conference action.
With the win, Slippery Rock improves to 2-0-1 on the year and has not allowed a goal in three games. The Rock is now unbeaten in 20 of their last 24 games. Urbana dropped to 0-1-1 with the loss.
The Blue Knights finished the game with advantages of 13-9 in total shots, 7-2 in shots on goal and 9-5 in corner kicks, but could not solve Rock keeper
Joe Agerskow.
Agerskow posted his third consecutive shutout after making seven saves.
Zach Hall scored the game-winning goal in the 10th minute when
Stephen Donnelly found him inside the box for the only score of the game.
Friday's win marked the first win for either team in the series after they played to a double overtime tie in the only other two meetings.
The game was the third road game of the season for Slippery Rock, which will open the home portion of its schedule Tuesday when West Virginia Wesleyan visits for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff.
