Rock drop 8-1 decision to #16 Cal U

Tuesday’s loss eliminated The Rock (9-8 overall, 1-3 PSAC-W) from contention for a conference playoff berth, breaking a string of seven consecutive appearances by the Green and White

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team lost 8-1 to defending Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western champion and region No. 1-ranked California U. of Pa. in a home match Tuesday.
The loss dropped SRU's season records to 9-8 overall, 1-3 in division competition and eliminated The Rock from contention for a conference playoff berth.

The Green and White had earned berths in seven consecutive conference tournaments prior to this season.

California, the No. 16 team in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II national poll, improved its season record to 10-9 overall and 5-0 in PSAC-West matches.

Tuesday's win assured Cal U of its seventh consecutive PSAC-West title.

The Rock look to end a two-match losing streak Wednesday when they host Clarion University in a 3:30 p.m. match.
